-40 N. <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII •� �• <br />T� Of <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />17 11 <br />( DRAFT 2 ) <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR TO ENTER <br />INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF HAWAI'I DEPARTMENT <br />OF TRANSPORTATION, PURSUANT TO HRS 46-7, FOR THE <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS GPS UNITS GRANT <br />WHEREAS, the State of Hawai'i Department of Transportation — State and <br />Community Highway Safety Program has authorized funding for the Department of <br />Public Works GPS Units grant; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works seeks to implement safety <br />improvement projects based on trends in crash frequency, rate, and location <br />information; and <br />WHEREAS, the grant, derived from Federal funds, will be used by the <br />Department of Public Works to purchase one hundred (100) GPS units for the Hawaii <br />County Police Department to obtain crash data; and <br />WHEREAS, the crash data will be processed by the Department of Public Works <br />Traffic Division with their RoadSoft GIS software to generate crash trend reports for <br />project planning; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII, in <br />accordance with section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, that the Mayor of the County of <br />Hawaii is authorized to execute, on behalf of the County, a grant agreement, attached <br />hereto and incorporated herein by reference as EXHIBIT "A", and any related <br />documents with the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation to enable the County <br />
