COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. 300 10 <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR TO ENTER <br />INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF HAWAII DEPARTMENT OF <br />THE ATTORNEY GENERAL, PURSUANT TO HRS 46 -7, FOR THE NEXT <br />GENERATION JUVENILE JUSTICE INFORMATION SYSTEM DATA <br />BROKER PROJECT <br />WHEREAS, The County of Hawaii has been selected as a pilot site to implement <br />a computer system interface between the Hawaii County Police Department's Records <br />Management System to the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney's Hawaii Island Tracking <br />System; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of the Attorney General's Crime Prevention & <br />Justice Assistance Division has authorized funding to the Hawai'i Office of the <br />Prosecuting Attorney for this Next Generation Juvenile Justice Information System (NG <br />JJIS) Data Broker Project; and <br />WHEREAS, the Juvenile Justice Information System serves as a data repository <br />for juvenile offender information for the State of Hawaii; and <br />WHEREAS, these monies, derived from Federal funds, will be used to implement <br />an interface, which will electronically transfer juvenile arrest data between the Police <br />and Prosecuting Attorney's systems; and <br />WHEREAS, this will eliminate double entry of information into the separate <br />systems and will help to improve efficiency; and <br />WHEREAS, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46 -7, requires that county <br />departments obtain the consent of the council to enter into agreements with the federal <br />or state governments respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers <br />granted by law to furnish, expend, and receive any funds or other assistance in <br />connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those powers. <br />
