No. 116, reports as follows: <br /> Communication No. 116, from Mayor Billy Kenoi, dated February 23, 2011, requests <br /> confirmation of the appointment of Thomas Whittemore of the North Kona District to the <br /> Hawai`i County Leeward Planning Commission. Mr. Whittemore is a life -long resident of <br /> Hawai`i. He is a retired banker who worked for First Hawaiian Bank from 1971 to 1999, and <br /> was a Trustee with the Parker Ranch Foundation Trust from 1999 to 2004. <br /> Mr. Whittemore recently served as a member of the Hawai`i County Police Commission. He <br /> states that he is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, he will serve a five -year <br /> term to end on December 31, 2015. He is replacing Fredric G. Housel, whose term expired on <br /> December 31, 2010. <br /> Mr. Whittemore was not in attendance. Executive Assistant to the Mayor, Robert "Bobby" <br /> Command, spoke on his behalf stating that Mr. Whittemore is a retired banker and past President <br /> of Habitat for Humanity. <br /> Councilperson Pilago thanked Mr. Command for the information he provided. <br /> Councilperson Ford stated she will not be supporting this nominee because of her concerns of <br /> having a more balanced selection of nominees for boards and commissions. She feels that more <br /> time should be given to review nominations and implored the Mayor to do a better job in the <br /> selection process. <br /> PC Report No. 14 <br />
