+YY,or N <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAI' I STATE OF HAWAI' I <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 50 11 <br /> A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXTENSION OF THE PUBLIC SEWER FROM <br /> INTERSECTION OF WAIANUENUE AVENUE AND RAINBOW DRIVE TO PARCEL <br /> 2 -3- 26:008 FOR HILO MEMORIAL HOSPITAL LARGE CAPACITY CESSPOOL <br /> COMPLIANCE, COUNTY OF HAWAII, DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS. <br /> WHEREAS, applicant County of Hawaii, Department of Public Works has requested to <br /> extend the sewer in accordance with section 21 -26, Hawaii County Code to service parcel 2 -3- 26:008, <br /> owned by the State of Hawaii and tenanted by the County of Hawaii under Executive Order 3773: <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the sewer extension will be portion to the County construction contract for the <br /> closure of Hilo Memorial Hospital large capacity cesspool on -site wastewater disposal system; and <br /> WHEREAS, applicant County of Hawaii, Department of Public Works will bear the full cost <br /> of the extension and will be eligible to exercise conditions under Section 21- 28(b)(1), Hawaii County <br /> Code granting reimbursement to the applicant for 10 years after completion of the extension of all <br /> moneys for sewer charges collected by the County from other properties, if any, connecting to the <br /> extension provided the total of such reimbursement shall not exceed the cost incurred by the applicant <br /> to construct the extension; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Director of Environmental Management has recommended approval of the <br /> extension according to section 21 -27, Hawaii County Code; and Attachment "A" is an application <br /> from County of Hawaii, Department of Public Works, with a vicinity map as supporting <br /> documentation; and <br /> WHEREAS, sewer extension is beneficial to the community by eliminating the continued <br /> operation of the large capacity cesspool or need of alternative on -site waste treatment options and <br /> reducing the amount of potential pollutants reaching the groundwater and surface waters, resulting in a <br /> cleaner, healthier environment; and <br /> WHEREAS, this sewer extension will provide an estimated surplus capacity of up 0.271 mgd <br /> to service the wastewater from parcel 2 -3- 27:026 in the future; and <br /> WHEREAS, section 21 -26, Hawaii County Code, requires that the Council approve all sewer <br /> extensions; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the sewer <br /> extension from intersection of Waianuenue Avenue and Rainbow Drive to parcel 2 -3- 26:008 for Hilo <br /> Memorial Hospital Large Capacity Cesspool Compliance, County of Hawaii, Department of Public <br /> Work is hereby approved. <br />
