No. 303-00 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> TIME: 10:53 A.M. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 303-OQ reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 303-OQ transmitted jointly with Bill No. 285 by Acting Director of Finance Dixie <br /> Keatsu, via Communication No. 855, dated July 11, 2000, authorizes the County of Hawaii to enter into <br /> an agreement with the State Department of the Attorney General Crime Prevention and Justice <br /> Assistance Division for a Domestic Violence Training grant. <br /> The State Department of Attorney General Crime Prevention and Justice Assistance has authorized <br /> funding to improve the handling of domestic violence incidents through proper handling of the <br /> investigations of police officers and increase sharing of information pertinent to the victim and the <br /> abuser between police and EMS personnel at the scene of a domestic violence incident. <br /> The Hawaii County Police Department is ready and willing to proceed with its obligations for the <br /> Domestic Violence Training. <br /> <br /> Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, county departments must obtain the consent of the <br /> <br /> council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting action to be taken <br /> <br /> pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend and receive any funds or other <br /> <br /> assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those powers. <br /> Some members of Your Committee requested afollow-up be sent to the Corporation Counsel's Office to <br /> <br /> find out if they have received any confirmation from the Department of Justice regazding information <br /> <br /> concerning the existence of a cause for debarment prior to the next Council meeting. <br /> Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 303-00 and <br /> <br /> recommends its adoption. <br /> smc <br /> AYES NOES A&F, EX <br /> Respectfully submitted <br /> CHUNC X <br /> ELARIOrvoFE x COMMITTEE ON FINANCE <br /> JACOBSON X <br /> LEITHEAD-TODD X <br /> PISICCHIO X <br /> SMITH X <br /> TvLER x AARON S.Y.
