The replies to your inquiries will be answered in the order of your
original email format.
1. Copy of Pa'auilo Rendering Plant and Slaughterhouse plans and contract, related
improvements to determine what the total grant covers.
None available at present; need acceptance of funds in order to get project started.
2. Proposed plans on the handling of ongoing waste disposal; make bone meal from
bones, create poultry feed instead of burying carcasses in open trenches and /or sent to
landfills.
Tallow can be used for bio- diesel, and steam for the tripe processing. Bone meal can be
used for fertilizer (as long as there are no SRM's (Specified Risk Material)), hog feed
and /or chicken feed.
With rendering plant up and running, products would be created with the waste,
therefore leaving little or none to be disposed of, except the SRM.
3. Information on current handling of animal waste management for 300 -400 head of
cattle per month and proposed plan when the capacity doubles after the Slaughterhouse
improvements.
At present, waste is either buried on site or taken to rubbish dump. With rendering plant,
products would be created with the waste, therefore leaving little or none to be disposed
of, except SRM.
Hawai'i County is an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer
