COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION NO. 103 11 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF HAWAII DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, PURSUANT TO HRS 46 -7, FOR A COUNTY OF HAWAII INTELLIGENT TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM (ITS) ARCHITECTURE GRANT FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS WHEREAS, the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation has authorized funding for a grant titled Federal -Aid Project No. SPR0010 (33) for the Department of Public Works; and WHEREAS, the goal of this project is to meet federal requirements for an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) architecture and to support coordination and cooperation among participating agencies for planned ITS deployments; and WHEREAS, the objectives of this project include creating a foundation for ITS deployments that relate to traveler information and data sharing, defining future functions of ITS, meeting federal requirements related to ITS architecture, and drafting MOU /MOA documents; and WHEREAS, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46 -7, requires that county departments obtain the consent of the Council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend, and receive any funds or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those powers; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII, in accordance with section 46 -7, Hawai'i Revised Statutes, that the Mayor of the County of Hawaii is authorized to execute, on behalf of the County, an agreement and related documents with the State of Hawai'i Department of Transportation, to enable the County of Hawaii to implement ITS as described in the Department of Public Works' application for the County of Hawaii Intelligent Transportation System Architecture grant, attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference as Exhibit "A ".
