REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON FINANCE <br /> DATE: July 21, 2011 Re: Comm. No. 260 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Kona, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 1:35 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication 260, reports as follows: <br /> Communication 260, dated July 6, 2011 and transmitted by Finance Director Nancy Crawford, <br /> requests the Council's acceptance of the following donation of one hundred forty (140) Coleman <br /> Oasis tents, valued at $250 each for a total estimated value of$35,000, to be utilized by the <br /> Hawaii Fire Department, Department of Public Works and the Department of Parks and <br /> Recreation to provide logistical support during emergencies. The tents were donated by the <br /> Hawaii State Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD). <br /> A letter of appreciation will be sent to the donor, c/o Maria Lutz, representing VOAD, 4155 <br /> Diamond Head Road, Honolulu, HI 96816 for this generous donation. <br /> Civil Defense Agency Administrative Officer William Hanson and Department of Human <br /> Resources Health & Safety Specialist Ryan Chong appeared before Your Committee. <br /> Communication 260.1 from Mr. Hanson, illustrating and describing the donated tents was <br /> provided to members.
