"Section 17 -24. Inspection required. <br />ta.), All plumbing, gas, and drainage systems shall be inspected by the administrative <br />authority to ensure compliance with all the requirements of this code. Approval as a <br />result of an inspection shall not be construed to be an approval of a violation of the <br />provisions of this code or of any other ordinance. Inspections presuming to give <br />authority to violate or cancel the provisions of this code or of any other ordinance <br />shall not be valid. <br />(b) It shall be the duty of the permit applicant to cause the work to remain accessible and <br />exposed for inspection purposes. Neither the authority having jurisdiction nor the <br />County shall be liable for any expense entailed in the removal or replacement of any <br />material required to perform the inspection." <br />SECTION 7. Chapter 17, article 2, division 4, section 17 -25 of the Hawai`i County <br />Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended) is amended to read as follows: <br />"Section 17 -25. Notification to administrative authority that work is ready for <br />inspection. <br />(a) It shall be the duty of the person doing the work authorized by the permit to notify <br />the administrative authority orally or in writing, that said work is ready for <br />inspection. [ <br />work is to be inspected.] The authority having jurisdiction may require that every <br />request for inspection be filed and ready at least forty -eight hours before such <br />inspection is desired. Such request may be in writing or by phone at the option of <br />the authority having jurisdiction. <br />(b) It shall be the duty of the person doing the work authorized by the permit, to make <br />sure that the work will stand the tests prescribed elsewhere in this code, before <br />giving the above notification. <br />Lc,) It shall be the duty of the person requesting any inspections required by this code to <br />provide access to and means for proper inspection of such work. <br />�d) Whenever any work regulated by this chapter, or any portion thereof, is ready for <br />inspection, the authority having jurisdiction shall be notified by the permit holder <br />that same is ready for inspection. The notice shall be in writing on forms furnished <br />by the authority having jurisdiction, by e -mail to the area inspectors or may be faxed <br />or by telephone at the option of the authority having jurisdiction. The notice shall be <br />filed with the department not less than forty -eight hours and not more than seventy - <br />two hours before any such inspection is desired. <br />fel The authority having jurisdiction shall proceed to inspect the same or notify the <br />contractor of a reschedule within forty -eight hours, not including weekends or <br />holidays, after receipt of such notice. When work conforms in all respects with the <br />provisions of this chapter, a notice granting authority to proceed with installations <br />shall be given. <br />(f) No plumbing work shall be covered or concealed until forty -eight hours have <br />expired after the scheduled inspection or until the authority having jurisdiction has <br />approved the installation and given permission to cover or conceal the same.
