The amendment is as follows: <br /> From: <br /> 3302.98 Federal Grants —HI Impact Grant General $51,607 <br /> 010.201.5219.93 Federal Grants —HI Impact Grant General $51,607 <br /> The U.S. Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is providing federally <br /> derived funds to disrupt illicit drug traffic in Hawaii, gather and report intelligence data relating <br /> to trafficking in narcotics, and conduct covert operations. The Hawaii Police Department will <br /> detail up to three (3) experienced officers to the Hawaii Airport Task Force (HATF), a joint <br /> venture between the Hawai`i Police Department and the DEA to accomplish this task. <br /> The bill amends the Operating Budget by increasing the appropriation (estimated amount based <br /> on contract-specified annual limit of$17,202.25 for each of the three deputized Hawaii Police <br /> Department officers, totaling $51,507) in the HI Impact Grant account, bringing the total grant <br /> appropriation to $176,607. <br /> Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, County Departments must obtain the consent <br /> of the Council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting action to <br /> be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend and receive any funds <br /> or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those <br /> powers. <br /> There was no discussion on this measure. <br /> FC Report No. 101 <br />
