Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is providing <br />federally derived funds to disrupt illicit drug traffic in Hawaii, gather and report intelligence <br />data relating to trafficking in narcotics, and conduct covert operations. The Hawaii Police <br />Department will detail up to three (3) experienced officers to the Hawaii Airport Task Force <br />(HATF), a joint venture between the Hawaii Police Department and the DEA to accomplish <br />this task. <br />Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the U. S. <br />Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration in order to commence this program. <br />Also enclosed is a bill amending the Operating Budget by increasing the appropriation <br />(estimated amount based on contract - specified annual limit of $17,202.25 for each of the <br />three deputized Hawaii Police Department officers, totaling $51,607) in the HI Impact Grant <br />account, bringing the total grant appropriation to $176,607. <br />If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call Nori Ishii from the Police <br />Department, at 961 -2273. <br />6444 <br />Nancy rawford <br />Director of Finance <br />Enc. <br />cc: Police 32 <br />Comm.
