No. 317/Bill No. 83 PLACE: Council Chambers Hilo, Hawai`i TIME: 8:05 Council Chair and Members Hawai`i County Council Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation, to which was referred Bill No. 83, reports as follows: Bill No. 83, transmitted via Communication No. 317, from Council Member J. Yoshimoto, dated August 18, 2011, designates tax map keys (3) 2-4-060:001 and (3) 2-4-029:028 as "Machado Acres Park" pursuant to chapter 15, article 8, section 15-67, Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2005 edition, as amended) and amending chapter 15, article 8, section 15-68.1, Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2005 edition, as amended) by adding "Machado Acres Park" to the parks and recreational facility schedule. This is necessary because Resolution No. 95-03 was adopted on November 19, 2003, accepting dedication of the two parcels from Machado Acres Association to the County of Hawai`i for the purpose of creating a park. A community meeting was held and all those in attendance unanimously agreed that the park be named "Machado Acres Park." Councilmember Yoshimoto urged support for this bill and explained that the park consists of two parcels totaling approximately 8 acres and that it is a"passive"park, designed by the community to meet their specific needs, he also commended the unique approach to park development. Councilmember Ford requested a map of the park be available for Councilmembers to view at the next meeting the bill will be discussed.
