REPORT OF THE
COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC WORKS AND
PARKS AND RECREATION COMMITTEE
DATE: September 7, 2011 Re: Comm. H.
Lee, dated August 18, 2011, amends Chapter 24, Article 10, Division 6 of the Hawai`i County
Code relating to Loading Zones.
Bill No. 84 amends Section 24-288.1, Schedule 36.1, Active loading and unloading zones under
(c) South Hilo by adding: "Kilauea Avenue, southwest side, beginning from a point thirty feet
southeast of Wilson street and extending forty feet in the southeasterly direction" and
renumbering as required. This amendment was generated based on an identified need for a short-
term loading zone in the area.
Councilmember Onishi urged support for this bill, explaining that he worked with community
members and business owners in the area to address the parking issues. This bill designates
"loading zones"to accommodate deliveries and is based on the changing needs in the area.
Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation is in accord with the purpose and
intent of Bill 84, and recommends its passage on first reading.
bl
AYES NOES A&E EX Respectfully submitted,
BLAS X
FORD x COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC WORKS &
HOFFMANN x PARKS AND RECREATION
IKEDA X
ONISHI X j 1
PILAGO X
SMART x FRED BLAS, CHAIR
YAGONG X PWPRC REPORT NO. 33
YOSHIMOTO X ADOPTED: S'EP 2 1 20'1
