RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF FUNDS OF A LATER FISCAL YEAR AND OF MORE THAN ONE FISCAL YEAR FOR A MULTI -YEAR LEASE FOR TWO (2) FIRE APPARATUS (FIRE TRUCKS) FOR THE HAWAII FIRE DEPARTMENT WHEREAS, Section 10 -11 of the County Charter requires that any contract, lease or other obligation requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal year or of more than one fiscal year be approved by resolution; and WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii wishes to enter into a multi -year lease agreement for five (5) years, for two (2) fire apparatus (also known as fire trucks) for the Hawaii Fire Department; and WHEREAS, the estimated lease cost is $16,400 per month or $196,800 annually for both units (in total); and WHEREAS, the apparatus are to replace Engine 3 at Kawailani Fire Station, and Engine 4 at Kaumana Fire Station; and WHEREAS, the apparatus to be replaced as indicated above, are over twenty (20) years old, resulting in increased maintenance costs, prolonged down times and are considered as unreliable; and BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII: 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into a five (5) year lease agreement for two (2) fire apparatus for the Hawaii Fire Department. 2. That sufficient funds be budgeted in future fiscal years to cover the anticipated obligations of the County under the terms of the agreement. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that these apparatus shall be leased for a period of five (5) years at a total cost not to exceed $16,400 per month. BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk of the County of Hawaii shall transmit copies of this resolution to the Office of the Mayor, the Hawaii Fire Department, and the Finance Department.
