BRAmendHiloZoneMap- HalelokeStreet.doc-8 /02/11 <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII PLANNING DEPARTMENT <br />BACKGROUND AND RECOMMENDATION <br />INITIATOR: PLANNING DIRECTOR <br />AMENDMENT TO CHAPTER 25 (ZONING CODE) <br />OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983 (2005 EDITION) <br />REGARDING THE CITY OF HILO ZONE MAP <br />The Planning Director is initiating an amendment to Section 25 -8 -33 (City of Hilo Zone <br />Map), Article 8, Chapter 25 (Zoning Code) of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2005 Edition) by <br />relocating the proposed 60 -foot wide right-of-way connecting `Akolea Road and `I`iwipolena <br />Road to the north to align with Haleloke Street in the vicinity of Hilo Heights Subdivision, <br />accompanied by the adjustment of adjoining roadways at Ponohawai, South Hilo, Hawai`i, <br />TMK: 2 -5 -08: por. 24; 2 -5 -15: por. 12 thru 18 & 92; 2 -5 -56: por. 1 thru 12; 2 -5 -58: por. 01 and <br />4 thru 20; and 2 -5 -60: por. 07, 08, 51, 53, 59 thru 61 and 68. <br />PURPOSE <br />1. Amendment of the City of Hilo Zone Map to relocate the existing 60 -foot wide future road <br />right -of -way between `Akolea Road and `I`iwipolena Road as shown on the City of Hilo <br />Zone Map to the north to coincide with the alignment of Haleloke Street within Hilo Heights <br />Subdivision. (see attached Exhibits 1, 2 and 3) <br />2. This current 60 -foot wide future road right -of -way, as shown on the City of Hilo Zone Map, <br />straddles the common boundary between Hilo Heights Subdivision and `Akolea Plantation <br />Subdivision, affecting those lots that adjoin this common boundary. The Planning Director is <br />recommending the elimination of this 60 -foot wide future road right of way in favor of <br />designating the existing Haleloke Street and its future extension to serve as the collector <br />ATTACH: Comm . 367 <br />Bill 99 <br />
