REQUEST: <br />A resolution authorizing the Mayor to accept a grant from the Hawaii State Department of Health, Maternal & <br />Child Health Branch, Community Based Child Abuse Prevention Program, to provide funding for "Ating <br />Bahay", a community based response committee, to a organze a strategic planning conference and other <br />related activites to adress domestic violence specificaly for immigrant women, men, and children. <br />To amend the FY11 -12 Operating Budget, Ordinance No 11 -59 to appropriate $4,995 for the Community <br />Based Child Abuse Prevention Grant. <br />B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br />Ating Bahay is a grassroots committee -based organization that was created to address domestic violence in <br />the immigrant communities. It is planning a conference and several strategic planning sessions to create <br />awareness and develop domestic violence prevention strategies within the immigrant communities.
