REPORT OF THE <br />COMMITTEE ON FINANCE <br />DATE: October 18, 2011 <br />PLACE: Council Chambers <br />Kona, Hawai`i <br />TIME: 1:34 p.m. <br />Council Chair and Members <br />Hawaii County Council <br />Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br />Re: Comm. No. 406 <br />Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication 406, reports as follows: <br />Communication 406, transmitted by Mayor William P. Kenoi, dated October 5, 2011, nominates <br />Marilyn L. Nicholson to the County of Hawaii Public Access, Open Space, and Natural <br />Resources Preservation Commission. <br />A 37 -year resident of Hawaii, Ms. Nicholson in 2007 retired as the Executive Director for the <br />Volcano Art Center. Ms. Nicholson serves as a member of the Friends of Hawaii Volcanoes <br />National Park. She recently completed her term as a member of the County of Hawaii Cost of <br />Government Commission and Board of Ethics. Ms. Nicholson states that she is a Democrat. If <br />confirmed she will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2015. <br />Pursuant to Section 2 -215, Hawaii County Code, there shall be a public access, open space, and <br />natural resources preservation commission consisting of nine members, appointed by the mayor <br />and confirmed by the County Council. <br />Vice -Chair Dominic Yagong resumes chair for this matter. <br />Executive Assistant Charmaine Shigemura appeared before Your Committee to introduce <br />Ms. Marilyn L.
