Sako <br />Deputy Director <br />MOO <br />Re: Capital Budget <br />On March 11, 2011, an earthquake off the Pacific coast of Tohoku, Japan generated a <br />tsunami which reached Hawaii, damaging Ali`i Drive and other facilities in the Kona area. <br />The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is providing funds to be used for <br />the repair of these damages. Normally, FEMA covers 75% of the cost, with the balance <br />provided by County matching funds; however, in this case, portions of the project are <br />ineligible to be paid for by FEMA, and are to be covered by the County. <br />Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance adding the project titled "Tsunami Damage Projects ", <br />and appropriating $351,000 to the Capital Budget of which $36,000 is provided by FEMA, <br />and $315,000 by the County. <br />If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call Warren H.W.
