COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 193 11 <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR TO ENTER <br /> INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF HAWAII DEPARTMENT <br /> OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL, PURSUANT TO HRS 46-7, FOR THE <br /> VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN TRAINING PROGRAM <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Office of the Prosecuting Attorney has identified <br /> physical violence against adult women as a serious and increasing problem in Hawaii <br /> County; and <br /> WHEREAS, the State of Hawaii Department of the Attorney General has <br /> selected the Hawaii County Office of the Prosecuting Attorney to receive a <br /> supplemental award towards their Recovery Act S.T.O.P. Violence Against Women <br /> Training Project; and <br /> WHEREAS, these monies, derived from federal funds, will be used to finance <br /> training, and to develop and implement more effective police, court and prosecution <br /> polices, protocols, orders and services, specifically devoted to preventing, identifying <br /> and responding to violent crimes against women; and <br /> WHEREAS, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that county <br /> departments obtain the consent of the council to enter into agreements with the federal or <br /> state governments respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by <br /> law to furnish, expend, and receive any funds or other assistance in connection with <br /> projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those powers; now, therefore, <br />
