No. 500/Res.199-12 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 9:02 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution 199-12, reports as follows: <br /> Resolution 199-12, transmitted by Finance Director Nancy Crawford via Communication <br /> No. 500, dated December 7, 2011, authorizes the acceptance of a donation of 20 oxygen delivery <br /> systems from the North Hawai`i Community Hospital. This equipment, with a total value of <br /> $32,444.16, will be used by the Hawai`i Fire Department's 15 Emergency Medical Services <br /> (EMS) stations plus five (5) spare units, to afford a non-invasive option for EMS practioners to <br /> provide respiratory support through a mask rather than the invasive endotracheal intubation. <br /> Fire Chief Darren Rosario and Battalion Chief Lance Uchida appeared before Your Committee, <br /> Mr. Uchida provided a brief overview of this equipment,and further explained how these tools <br /> will help improve pre-hospital settings for patients.
