Sako <br />Deputy Director <br />Re: Operating Budget <br />The State of Hawaii Department of Human Services Office of Youth Services is providing <br />federally derived funds of $200,000 to support the Prosecuting Attorney's Office's <br />implementation of the Big Island Juvenile Intake and Assessment Center (BIJIAC) project <br />in Hawaii County. The objective of the BIJIAC concept is to provide juvenile offenders <br />with a single point of entry for assessment, crisis intervention, service integration, short- <br />term holding, and referral. If this pilot program is successful, the Prosecuting Attorney's <br />Office anticipates continued funding to be provided by the Office of Youth Services. <br />Enclosed is a resolution to authorize the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State <br />of Hawaii Department of Human Services for this grant. <br />Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating <br />this $200,000 Big Island Juvenile Intake and Assessment Center (BIJIAC) grant award. <br />Due to the grant timeline, the Prosecuting Attorney's Office is requesting that this Bill be <br />waived from the Finance Committee and be placed on the February 15, 2012 Council <br />agenda. <br />If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call Nancy Kelly of the Prosecuting <br />Attorney's Office at 934 -3315. <br />xklANA, 644 <br />Nancy Crawford <br />Director of Finance <br />Enc. <br />cc: Prosecuting Attorney <br />( 1.4s • 2 2.3- i 2 6' 11 182) Hawaii County is an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer <br />Comm.
