COUNTY OF HAWAII / • STATE OF HAWAII• RESOLUTION NO. 225 12 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF FUNDS OF A LATER FISCAL YEAR AND OF MORE THAN ONE FISCAL YEAR FOR A MULTI-YEAR LEASE OF REAL PROPERTY WHEREAS, Section 10-11 of the County Charter requires that any contract, lease or other obligation requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal year or of more than one fiscal year be approved by resolution; and WHEREAS, the departments of Environmental Management and Information Technology are currently located in leased space at Puainako Center; and WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii Department of Water Supply has approximately 8,880 square feet of office space available at 345 Kekuanao'a Street Hilo Hawaii; and WHEREAS, the Department of Water Supply would advance renovation costs of up to $500,000, which would be paid back by the County over five years or less, during which time rent would not be charged; and WHEREAS, after renovation costs have been repaid, rent would be $0.85 per square foot through the first ten year period and would thereafter be negotiated for additional years, based on a ten year optional extension; and WHEREAS, common area maintenance fees (CAM) are originally estimated to be $0.99 and will be adjusted to actual costs annually; and WHEREAS, relocation of the Environmental Management and the Information Technology departments would result in significant savings from the current lease rental expense; now, therefore
