REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON FINANCE <br /> DATE: June 18, 2012 Re: Comm. No. 724/Res. 261-12 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 1:38 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution 261-12, reports as follows: <br /> Resolution 261-12, transmitted by Finance Director Nancy Crawford via Communication <br /> No. 724, dated May 14, 2012, authorizes the acceptance of three used Class A Pumpers and two <br /> 1,500 gallon water tankers from the Honolulu Fire Department. This equipment was offered to <br /> the Hawai`i Fire Department by the Honolulu Fire Department when they received new <br /> apparatus. The Class A Pumpers will be used as back up to our Fire Department's front line <br /> fleet, and the tankers will be used to support wildland firefighting activities. This equipment, <br /> valued at $5,000 each, for a total value of$25,000. <br /> Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the <br /> County, may accept gifts or donations of money. <br /> Chair Brenda Ford relinquished the chairmanship to Vice-Chair Dominic Yagong, and he <br /> assumed chairmanship of the Finance Committee. <br /> Fire Chief Darryl Rosario appeared before Your Committee. Fire Chief Rosario provided details <br /> of fire apparatus and on how this donation will be used.
