No. 892/13ill No. 329 <br />Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 328, reports as follows: <br />Bill No. 329, transmitted by Finance Director Nancy Crawford via Communication No. 892, <br />dated October 19, 2012, amends Ordinance No. 12-86, as amended, the Operating Budget for the <br />County of Hawaii for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2013. The amendment is as follows: <br />From: <br />010.3308.87 Federal Grants — Criminal Justice System General $35,836 <br />(CJS) Information Sharing -ARRA <br />To: <br />010.271.5271.94 Criminal Justice System (CJS) General $35,836 <br />Information Sharing -ARRA <br />The State of Hawaii Department of the Attorney General is providing additional federally derived <br />funds of $35,836 to support the Prosecuting Attorney's Office's implementation of the Integrated <br />Criminal Justice System (CJS) Information Sharing Project. The goal of this project is to improve <br />the efficient exchange of information within the criminal justice system. The project includes <br />automated transfer of case information and reports from the Hawaii Police Department Records <br />Management system to the Prosecuting Attorney's office HITS case tracking system and Laserfiche <br />document management system. The project also includes the creation of an electronic discover <br />process and addresses meeting the Judiciary's electronic filing of criminal cases requirement. The <br />Prosecuting Attorney's Office anticipates that these initiatives will streamline workflow and <br />improve efficiency by automating manual entry and redundant processes. <br />The bill amends the Operating Budget by appropriating the additional funds into the Integrated <br />CJS Information Sharing program account, increasing the total appropriation to $192,691. <br />Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, County departments must obtain the consent of <br />the Council to enter into agreements with the Federal or State governments respecting action to be <br />taken pursuant to any powers granted by law to furnish, expend, and receive any funds or other <br />assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those powers. <br />FC Report No. 273 <br />
