REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON FINANCE <br /> DATE: January 8, 2013 Re: Comm.No. 55/Res.No. 32-13 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 2:40 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 32-13, reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 32-13,transmitted by Finance Director Nancy Crawford via Communication No. 55, dated <br /> December 21, 2012, authorizes the acceptance of fire rescue equipment and training tuition, valued at <br /> $48,279.56. This training tuition and equipment will be used by the Hawai`i Fire Department's Fire Rescue <br /> and Ocean Safety Divisions to provide for the safety of our Fire Department personnel and to facilitate the <br /> safe delivery of rescue services to the public. <br /> Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the County, may <br /> accept gifts or donations of money. <br /> Battalion Chief Gerald Kosaki, from the Fire Department, appeared before Your Committee for questions. <br /> On behalf of the Fire Department, he offered his condolences for the recent death of Ms. Laura Sayer's <br /> mother. It was suggested that the Fire Department and County Council send a letter of condolence to the <br /> Sayre family. Committee members expressed a high level of gratitude and appreciation to the Sayers for <br /> their ongoing support of the Fire Department's rescue services. <br /> Ms. Ford commended the Fire Department for their dedication of service. <br /> A letter of appreciation and a copy of this resolution will be sent to the Daniel Sayre Memorial Foundation, <br /> P. O.
