Kenoi, dated December 17, 2012, nominates <br /> Mr. Alvin A. Akina, Jr. to the Kailua Village Design Commission. Mr. Akina is a retired <br /> resident of Hawai`i. He worked in the travel industry for more than 20 years, was a volunteer <br /> fireman, a community activist for disabled and elderly citizens, and is an honorable discharged <br /> member of the Hawai`i National Guard. Mr. Akina states that he is a Democrat. If confirmed he <br /> will serve a term to end on December 31, 2016. <br /> Mr. Akina is not required to appear before the Council for final confirmation. <br /> Your Committee on Planning is in accord with the purpose and intent of Communication No. 37 <br /> and recommends confirmation of the appointment of Mr. Alvin A.
