No. 74 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Kona, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 11:00 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Public Safety and Mass Transit,to which was referred Communication <br /> No. 74, reports as follows: <br /> Communication No. 74, transmitted by Mayor William P. Kenoi, dated December 21, 2012, <br /> nominates William T. Takaba to the Hawai`i County Liquor Commission for Council District 3. <br /> Mr. Takaba is a lifelong resident of Hawai`i, and has recently retired from the County of Hawai`i <br /> where he served as the Managing Director for the last 4 years. Mr. Takaba's 38-year career with <br /> the County has allowed him to serve in a number of administrative roles such as Director of the <br /> Office of Aging and as Director of the Department of Finance. He is a member of the East <br /> Hawai`i Kiwanis Club, and the State Health Planning and Development Agency. He also served <br /> as a board member fo the YMCA and the Boys and Girls Club of the Big Island. <br /> Mr. Takaba states that he is not affiliated with any political party, and if confirmed, will serve a <br /> term to expire on December 31, 2017. <br /> Pursuant to Section 7-4.5,Hawai`i County Charter, there shall be a liquor commission, <br /> consisting of nine members, appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the County Council. <br /> Committee Chair Ford specified that Mr. Takaba does not need to appear before the full Council <br /> for final confirmation. <br /> Your Committee on Public Safety and Mass Transit is in accord with the purpose and intent of <br /> Communication No. 74, and recommends confirmation of the appointment of Mr. William T. <br /> Takaba to the County of Hawai`i Liquor Commission. <br /> la <br /> AYES NOES A&E EX Respectfully submitted, <br /> EOFF X <br /> FORD X COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC SAFETY <br /> ILAGAN x AND MASS TRANSIT <br /> KANUHA X <br /> KERN X <br /> ONISHI X <br /> POINDEXTER x BRENDA J.
