Takaba and Donn S. Mende to the Hawai'i County Liquor <br /> Commission. <br /> Council District 3—William T. Takaba is a lifelong resident of Hawaii. He retired this year from the <br /> County of Hawaii where he was employed since 1974. Mr. Takaba served in a number of administrative <br /> positions during his 38 year career with the County, including the Director of the Office of Aging and the <br /> Director of the Finance Department. During the last four years of his career(2008 to 2012), Mr. Takaba <br /> served as the County of Hawai'i's Managing Director. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of East <br /> Hawaii and a member of the State Health Planning and Development Agency. He was also a board <br /> member of the YMCA and the Boys and Girls Club of the Big Island. Mr. Takaba states that he is not <br /> affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, he will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2017. <br /> Council District 5—Donn S. Mende is a lifelong resident of Hawaii. He is presently the Assistant Vice <br /> President/Manager at the Hawaii National Bank. Prior to this position and throughout the past 20 years <br /> of his career, Mr. Mende has been employed by American Savings Bank, Central Pacific Bank and the <br /> Bank of Hawaii. Mr. Mende is the treasurer of the Boys and Girls Club. He is also a board member of <br /> both the Hawai'i Island United Way and Junior Achievement. Mr. Mende states that he is not affiliated <br /> with any political party.
