No. 74 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Kona, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 11:00 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Public Safety and Mass Transit, to which was referred Communication <br /> No. 74,reports as follows: <br /> Communication No. 74,transmitted by Mayor William P. Kenoi, dated December 21, 2012, <br /> nominates Mr. Donn S. Mende to the Hawaii County Liquor Commission. <br /> Mr. Mende is a lifelong resident of Hawai`i, and is presently the Assistant Vice-President of the <br /> Hawaii National Bank. Mr. Mende for the past 20-years of his career worked with American <br /> Savings Bank, Central Pacific Bank and the Bank of Hawai`i. He is the treasurer of the Boys <br /> and Girls Club, and is also a board member of both the Hawai`i Island United Way and Junior <br /> Achievement. <br /> Mr. Mende states that he is not affiliated with any political party, and if confirmed,will serve a <br /> term to expire on December 31, 2016. <br /> Pursuant to Section 7-4.5, Hawai`i County Charter,there shall be a liquor commission, <br /> consisting of nine members, appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the County Council. <br /> Committee Chair Ford specified that Mr. Mende does not need to appear before the full Council <br /> for confirmation. <br /> Your Committee on Public Safety and Mass Transit is in accord with the purpose and intent of <br /> Communication No. 74, and recommends confirmation of the appointment of Mr. Donn S. <br /> Mende to the County of Hawai`i Liquor Commission. <br /> la <br /> AYES NOES A&E EX Respectfully submitted, <br /> EOFF X <br /> FORD x COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC SAFETY <br /> ILAGAN x AND MASS TRANSIT <br /> KANUHA X <br /> KERN X <br /> ONISHI X <br /> POINDEXTER X BRENDA J.
