No. 80/Bill No. 27 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Kona, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 11:31 a.m.. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation, to which was referred Bill <br /> No. 27, reports as follows: <br /> Bill No. 27, transmitted by Public Works Director Warren H. W. Lee via Communication <br /> No. 80, dated December 21, 2012, amends Chapter 24, Article 10, Division 1, Section 24-257 of <br /> the Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended), relating to speed limits (35 miles per <br /> hour—Mamalahoa Highway, Waimea). <br /> The intent of this amendment is to lower the speed limit along M amalahoa Highway south of the <br /> Ala `Ohi`a Road (Waimea bypass) intersection. With the subject speed limit change, the design <br /> criteria specifically for the left-turn pocket into the Ala `Ohi`a Road intersection will be met <br /> within the existing right-of-way. <br /> Ron Thiel, Chief of Traffic Division, came forward to answer council members' questions and <br /> concerns.
