No. 85 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 10:45 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 85, reports as follows: <br /> Communication No. 85, transmitted by Mayor William P. Kenoi dated January 7, 2013, requests <br /> review and favorable recommendation of the nomination of Mr. Timothy R. DeLozier of Council <br /> District 1 to the County of Hawai`i Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation <br /> Commission (PONC). <br /> Mr. DeLozier is a 10-year resident of Hawai`i. He is currently the Branch Manager of Sound <br /> Mortgage, Inc., and is the Founding Member and previous Chapter President and Vice President of <br /> Business Networking Int'l (2005 - present). He has been a volunteer with the Penn Youth <br /> Foundation, and a mentor, coach and program coordinator at Community Partners for At-Risk <br /> Youth in Portland, Oregon. Mr. DeLozier states that he is not affiliated with any political party. If <br /> confirmed, he will serve a term to end on December 31, 2017, replacing Terri Markovish whose <br /> term expired on December 31, 2012. <br /> Ms. Charmaine Shigemura, Executive Assistant to Mayor Kenoi, came forward and provided <br /> background information, expressed the Mayor's support, and requested Council's favorable action <br /> of this appointment. Mr. Delozier appeared before your Committee and is excited to have the <br /> opportunity take part as a member of the PONC Commission. <br /> Several Council Members expressed support of Mr. DeLozier's appointment to the commission. <br /> Ms. Wille requests that commissioners embrace strong interest and retain balance toward <br /> recreational, cultural, and environmental issues. <br /> Corporation Counsel Lincoln Ashida came forward and clarified that persons applying to <br /> commissions are required to file financial disclosure statements, and also indicated that the <br /> disclosure statements are kept highly confidential. <br /> Mr. DeLozier is not required to be present at full Council for final confirmation. <br /> FC Report No.29 <br />
