NO. 845/ BILL N0.284 <br /> PLACE: Councilroom <br /> TIME: 9:07 a.m. <br /> Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Public Works and Parks, to which was referred Communication No. 845 and <br /> attached Bill No. 284, reports as follows: <br /> The purpose of Bill No. 284 is to amend Chapter 24, Article 10, Division 1, by increasing the speed <br /> limit on Ka`iminani Drive, Queen Ka`ahumanu Highway to Lau`i Street. <br /> Bill No. 284 would amend Chapter 24, Article 10, Division I, Section 24-257, Schedule 5 (35 mile <br /> per hour limit), subsection (f) Kona, item (3), of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (1995 Edition) is <br /> <br /> amended to read as follows: <br /> [Ka`Imi Nani Streetl Ka`iminani Drive, Oueen Ka`ahumanu Hiehwav to Lau`i Street. <br /> Bill No. 284 amends Chapter 24, Article 10, Division 1, Section 24-257, Schedule 5 (35 mile per <br /> <br /> hour limit), subsection (f) Kona, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (1995 Edition), is amended by <br /> <br /> adding the following to be appropriately numbered and to read as follows: <br /> ~ Ka`iminani Drive, .75 mile east of Lau`i Street to Route 190. <br /> <br /> Bill No. 284 amends Chapter 24, Article 10, Division 1, Section 24-260, Schedule 8 (45 mile per <br /> <br /> hour limit), subsection (f) Kona, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (1995 Edition), is further amended <br /> <br /> by adding the following to be appropriately numbered and to read as follows: <br /> ~ Ka`iminani Drive, Lau`i Street to a point .75 mile east. <br /> Communication No. 845 is from Council Member J. Curtis Tyler, III, dated July 5, 2000, which <br /> <br /> transmits Bill No. 284 to the Council for its review and consideration. Mr. Tyler informs Your <br /> Committee that a speed study was done by the Department of Public Works Traffic Division, and <br /> concurs that an increase in the speed limit on lower Ka`iminani Drive between Lau`i Street and <br /> <br /> the makai boundary of the Kona Palisades Subdivision is warranted. <br /> <br />
