No. 252 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Kona, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 10:32 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation, to which was referred <br /> Communication No. 252, reports as follows: <br /> Communication No. 252, transmitted by Mayor William P. Kenoi, dated April 4, 2013, <br /> nominates Wayne T. Nishijima to the Hawai`i County Veterans Advisory Committee. <br /> Executive Assistant to the Mayor Charmaine Shigemura introduced Mr. Nishijima who is a <br /> lifelong resident of Hawai`i. He is the present secretary of the Big Island National Guard <br /> Retirees Association. If confirmed, Mr. Nishijima will serve a term to expire on December 31, <br /> 2015, replacing Mr. Edward Lee, whose term expired on December 31, 2010. <br /> Mr. Nishijima addressed the committee and pledged to do his best to help the veterans in <br /> Hawai`i County. <br /> Committee Member Ilagan thanked Mr. Nishijima for his service and stated that the Veterans <br /> Advisory Committee is important to him because of his ties to the military. <br /> Committee Chair Kanuha informed Mr. Nishijima that his presence is not necessarily required <br /> when his nomination comes before the council. <br /> Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation is in accord with the purpose and <br /> intent of Communication 252, and recommends confirmation of the appointment of Mr. Wayne <br /> T.
