Fire Chief <br /> SUBJECT: E-1 1999 Ford Type 5 Engine Surplus Declaration <br /> RECOMMENDED ACTION(S): Declare AFD 1999 Ford Type 5 Engine (E-1) <br /> surplus and choose the final destination for h when it is removed from service, <br /> which is expected approximately by July 15th. <br /> REPORT SUMMARY: This vehicle should leave the <br /> City Avalon <br /> issues/costs inventory and <br /> leave the island completely to avoid any further maintenance <br /> associated use/storage issues. <br /> The following options are available to Avalon City Council; <br /> • Continue to try and sell the vehicle, it has been listed with a fire apparatus <br /> dealer for over a month with no interested parties. <br /> • Donate the vehicle to a mainland charity that sells the vehicle and receives <br /> the money. <br /> • The vehicle has been submitted to the California State Firefighters <br /> Association Surplus Equipment Program with no requests received. <br /> • Donate the vehicle to Hawaii County Fire Department Station 17-A <br /> Laupahoehoe HI. See attached letter and consider any nepotism issues. <br /> • Donation to the Bomberos organization that collects surplus equipment for <br /> firefighters in Mexico, they have also responded back with an interest in <br /> receiving the vehicle. <br /> FISCAL IMPACTS: <br /> None are expected, barge fees off the island were pre-paid and any transportation <br /> costs will be the responsibility of the receiving party. <br /> CONSEQUENCES OF NOT FOLLOWING RECOMMENDED ACTION: <br /> Ongoing costs, storage and use issues. <br />
