Provide the necessary <br /> plans and designs for a new highway to enhance the quality <br /> of life by reducing traffic congestion. Also to provide <br /> connectivity and the continuation of the Ane Keohokalole <br /> Highway from Palani Road to Kaiminani. <br /> Brenda South Kona Police Station: Currently the personnel at 6 & 7 $7,000,000 <br /> Ford the Kealakehi Police Station provides police services to the (design & <br /> (District 6) communities located in South Kona District. As a result, construction) <br /> response time to emergencies may be delayed at times due <br /> to travel time from Kailua-Kona area to other communities <br /> in South Kona. As the population increases in this area <br /> due to affordability and availability of land, the issue of <br /> having adequate and timely police services will also <br /> increase. Construction of a new police station including a <br /> refueling station and radio tower is needed. This project <br /> will address both the current and future needs for improved <br /> public safety in the South Kona area. <br /> Margaret Regional Transit Hub in Waimea: Master planning, 9 & 1-8 $10,000,000 <br /> Wille design and construction of a Regional Transit Hub in <br /> (District 9) Waimea. The building will service cross-island as well as <br /> district and local bus routes. This will be a multi-modal <br /> facility with tourist information, public restrooms <br /> (including for early morning cross-island buses), bicycle <br /> racks, and parking areas. The County is in need of a multi- <br /> modal transit hub in the Waimea area as it is the central <br /> juncture point between Hilo and Kailua-Kona and is also a <br /> direct link to the Kohala Coast Resort nodes. Provides <br /> service improvements and intermodal connectivity. <br /> Addresses public safety. Enhances quality of life. Will <br /> facilitate travel to the eight schools in Waimea. The facility <br /> should be at a minimum LEED-certified and ADA <br /> compliant. Encourages alternative transportation usage, <br /> which is a central component to reduce traffic congestion <br /> in Waimea. To be located near the Waimea Post Office or <br /> in another central location. <br />
