The County is in need of a multi- modal transit hub in the Waimea area as it is the central juncture point between Hilo and Kailua-Kona and is also a direct link to the Kohala Coast Resort nodes. Provides service improvements and intermodal connectivity. Addresses public safety. Enhances quality of life. Will facilitate travel to the eight schools in Waimea. The facility should be at a minimum LEED-certified and ADA compliant. Encourages alternative transportation usage, which is a central component to reduce traffic congestion in Waimea. To be located near the Waimea Post Office or in another central location.
