J Yoshimoto Kupulau Street Extension (end of Kupulau St. to 2 & 3 $3,600,000 <br /> (District 2) Puainako St. Extension): Work includes land acquisition, <br /> plans and designs. Project will enhance pedestrian, ADA, <br /> bicycle, and traffic circulation between upper Waiakea and <br /> Downtown Hilo. This will also help to relieve traffic <br /> congestion at the four-way-stop intersection of Komohana <br /> St. and Kawailani St. This will improve public health, <br /> safety, and quality of life. <br /> Valerie T. Laupahoehoe Point Access Road: Repair the damaged 1 $3,500,000 <br /> Poindexter portions of the roadway that connects Highway 19 to <br /> (District 1) Laupahoehoe Point. Hire a Geotechnical Engineer that <br /> will: 1) provide recommendations to repair the existing <br /> aroadway at locations where the roadway is failing; and 2) <br /> assess the landslide and rockfall hazards and provide <br /> various solutions. Remove rockfall hazards. <br /> Dru Mamo Nani Kailua Extension: To acquire right-of way and 7 $3,500,000 <br /> Kanuha construct approximately 600 feet of a new 60-foot-wide <br /> (District 7) road to establish a new collector road between Ali`i Drive <br /> in the vicinity of Oneo Bay to the County owned portion of <br /> the Kuakini Highway. Work will include curbs, gutters, <br /> sidewalks, roadside drainage improvements, street lights, <br /> and necessary intersection improvements at both Ali`i <br /> Drive and Kuakini Highway. <br /> Greggor Isaac Kepo`okalani Hale Beach Park Expansion: To 3, 4, 5 & 6 $12,000,000 <br /> Ilagan design, implement and construct improvements to the park (design & <br /> (District 4) which improves quality of life for area residents. This park construction) <br /> is heavily utilized as a popular surf, fish, swim and camp <br /> spot. This development seeks to preserve and protect the <br /> environment, address safety and security concerns, and <br /> provide the Puna community with beach park recreational <br /> 8 facilities and amenities comparable to those lost when lava <br /> from Kilauea Volcano claimed Harry K. Brown Park, <br /> Kalapana Beach Park and Kalapana Black Sands Beach <br /> Park in May of 1990. Recreational facilities and associated <br /> amenities to include: construction of a large pavilion <br /> capable of hosting larger events and parties, children's <br /> playground equipment, additional picnic tables and <br /> gazebos. <br /> Zendo Kuauli Road Traffic Improvements: Create a right-turn 4, 5 & 6 $1,000,000 <br /> Kern lane from Kuauli Road onto Highway 11 in the eastern <br /> (District 5) direction in Kurtistown.
