In <br />addition, a total of $5,598,838.77 was obtained from state and federal grants towards these completed <br />acquisitions. Below is a summary of each purchase and what has been done with the properties. <br />Waipi`o Lookout, Hamakua <br />The first purchase was completed in October 2007 for 1.8 acres, Tax Map Key (TMK): (3) 4 -8- <br />04:06 at the gateway into Waipi`o Valley, now formally designated as the Waipi`o Community <br />Park for a purchase price of $900,000.00. <br />Through a Parks Community Partnership Program Agreement, Friends of the Future (FOF) <br />continues to manage and provide upkeep and maintenance on the property. FOF is working with <br />the County to possibly expand their agreement and at some point include a means of generating <br />revenue for the Waipi`o Education & Information Officer program. Also in the preliminary stages <br />is a plan for a community charrette process using college students from the University of <br />Washington and possibly the University of Hawaii for summer 2014. <br />Kawa`a Bav & Kawa. Ka`a <br />The second purchase was completed in January 2008 and involved one of four parcels (TMK: (3) <br />9- 5- 17:07) totaling 234.293 acres for a purchase price of $1,920,000.00. The County was able to <br />supplement the sale with a $1,214,750.00 grant from the State of Hawaii, Department of Land and <br />Natural Resources (DLNR), Legacy Land Conservation Program (LLCP). <br />The fifth purchase finalized in November 2011, was for the three remaining parcels <br />(TMK's: (3) 9 -5 -16:06 & 25; 9 -5- 17:05) totaling 550.871 acres. The County, with the assistance of <br />The Trust for Public Lands (TPL), obtained $1,500,000.00 from the State, DLNR LLCP along with <br />$507,000.00 from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife, Recovery Land Acquisition Grant towards the <br />purchase price of $3,900,000.00. <br />County of Hawaii is an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer <br />
