No. 692/Res.No. 308-14 PLACE: Council Chambers Kona, Hawai`i TIME: 3:50 p.m. Council Chair and Members Hawai`i County Council Hilo, Hawaii 96720 Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 308-14, reports as follows: Resolution No. 308-14,transmitted by Finance Director Nancy Crawford, via Communication No. 692 dated February 18, 2014, authorizes the payment of funds of a later fiscal year and of more than one fiscal year for a multi-year agreement for personal computers and laptops for the Department of Information Technology. The resolution replaces a majority of computers in use by County employees that utilize an operating system that will no longer be supported by Microsoft Corporation after the second quarter of 2014. Council Member Ford noted that there was no cost reported within the resolution. Deputy Finance Director Deanna Sako appeared before Your Committee for questions. Ms. Sako noted that the Finance Department has not decided whether to take a three-year or four-year lease because they are still waiting for the bid to come in. However, she did state that the agreement was for a little over 700 computers at an estimated annual cost below$300,000, which includes the software. Pursuant to Section 10-11, Hawaii County Charter, any contract, lease or other obligation requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal year or of more than one fiscal year shall be made or approved by resolution.
