REQUEST. <br /> To appropriate an additional $3,100,000 for the Wireless Enhanced 911 (WE911) under account number <br /> 010.201.5216.21.115 and revenue account 3305.47. <br /> B BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> Pursuant to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) order 94-102, the State of Hawaii Wireless <br /> Enhanced 911 Board will reimburse the County of Hawaii for approved purchases relating to the provisions <br /> of technical functionality for the WE911 service. This additional appropriation is the anticipated <br /> reimbursement for the next period. This appropriation covers various areas of the E911 system. <br /> The Pictometry Imagery for the Department's E911 system. This will allow personnel involved in <br /> responding (dispatcher and officers) to the call the capability to visualize the surrounding areas. This will be <br /> mainly used for those remote areas that there may be hazards in the terrain. The victim(s) and responder(s) <br /> safety is both an issue in these circumstances. <br /> To be capatible with other State agencies, the Department must upgrade the CAD/RMS system to the Next <br /> Generation 911 System. The current system is outdated and not compatible. This new system will provide <br /> information for increased safety for the public and officers. <br /> Maintenance and management of the CAD/RMS system by Akimeka and the phone system by Hawaiiantel <br /> is critical to upkeep of the system. <br /> Monthly travel to E911 Wireless meeting to discuss new technology, current system and various other <br /> aspects of the E911 system. <br /> SIGNED: DATE: 44-2 <br /> Department Head <br />
