No. 436-14 PLACE: Council Chambers Hilo, Hawai`i TIME: 9:30 a.m. Council Chair and Members Hawai`i County Council Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 436-14, reports as follows: Resolution No. 436-14, transmitted by Finance Director Nancy Crawford, via Communication No. 894 dated May 15, 2014, authorizes the payment of funds of a later fiscal year and of more than one fiscal year for a multi-year lease of real property. The resolution authorizes the Mayor to enter into a First Amendment of Lease for a two-year extension for Unit A-2, Phase I of the Hilo Iron Works Building, TMK: 2-2-001:030, at a cost not to exceed $3,273.83 per month. Council Member Wille spoke in support of the resolution. She stated that she would like to see Mass Transit acquire a permanent space, particularly a County-owned property. Mass Transit Administrator Tiffany Kai appeared before Your Committee for questions. She stated that this is an extension of the existing lease to allow more time for Mass Transit to construct a new base yard facility. Ms. Kai included that a current parcel of land is being approved with the State of Hawai`i Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) as a possible site. Pursuant to Section 10-11, Hawai`i County Charter, any contract, lease or other obligation requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal year or of more than one fiscal year shall be made or approved by resolution.
