�J+SV OF.1 COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII �Tt OF.M'.�I RESOLUTION NO. 569 14 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THREE RING RANCH, INC., FOR ITS EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS. WHEREAS, Three Ring Ranch, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation and an exotic animal sanctuary that rehabilitates and cares for injured, abandoned, endangered, and illegally smuggled animals in the State of Hawaii; and WHEREAS, Three Ring Ranch, Inc., cares for all native species, including Hawaiian hoary bats, seabirds/shorebirds, nene, pue`o, and `io, as well as non-native exotic animals such as turtles and tortoises, zebras, flamingos, and parrots; and WHEREAS, Three Ring Ranch, Inc., also provides care for species that are deemed un - releasable, educates the public and students about proper animal care, and serves as an amnesty station for alien animal species in the State of Hawaii; and WHEREAS, Three Ring Ranch, Inc., is the only sanctuary in Hawaii that is accredited by The Association of Sanctuaries, is one of 33 facilities in the United States accredited by The American Sanctuary Association, and is one of 14 facilities in the United States accredited by The Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries; and WHEREAS, Three Ring Ranch, Inc., offers both internships for pre -vet students and summer extemships for second -year vet students and is currently affiliated with the University of California -Berkeley, University of California -Davis, and Oregon State University; and WHEREAS, 100% of the students that have interned at Three Ring Ranch, Inc., have been accepted into a veterinary college; and
