JNtr ^OF 14 <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII •_ <br />7TF OF•NPJ <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />1S 14 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING /APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE ROTARY CLUB <br />OF NORTH HAWAII FOR THE MINUKE`OLE PARK RESTORATION AND <br />CHERRY BLOSSOM TREE BEAUTIFICATION PROJECT. <br />WHEREAS, the Rotary Club of North Hawaii is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that <br />enables Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the <br />improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty; and <br />WHEREAS, the Rotarians help fund humanitarian activities, local service projects, and <br />global initiatives; and <br />WHEREAS, Minuke`ole Park is a 10 -acre stretch of land behind Parker Ranch Shopping <br />Center that was made available to the County as part of the 1992 Waimea Center rezoning; and <br />WHEREAS, Minuke`ole Park is used as a key principal location for the Waimea Cherry <br />Blossom Festival and is where many cherry trees were previously planted; and <br />WHEREAS, some of the cherry trees at Minuke`ole Park have died or are in poor <br />condition and in need of care; and <br />WHEREAS, the community of Waimea has been gifted replacement cherry trees by the <br />Consulate of Japan, which are available for planting in the park; and <br />WHEREAS, Minuke`ole Park also has two soccer fields in disrepair that are being <br />worked on by the Rotary Club of North Hawaii; and <br />
