County of Hawaii <br />LEEWARD PLANNING COMMISSION <br />Aupuni Center • 101 Pauahi Street, Suite 3 • Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br />Phone (808) 961 -8288 • Fax (808) 961 -8742 <br />December 11, 2014 <br />Dru Kanuha, Council Chair <br />and Members of the County Council <br />County of Hawaii <br />25 Aupuni Street <br />Hilo, HI 96720 <br />Dear Chairman Kanuha and Council Members: <br />Change of Zone Application (REZ 14- 000179) <br />Applicant: Orchid Isle Auto Center <br />Request: A -la to CV -10 for a 1.002 -Acre Parcel <br />Tax Map Key: 7- 6- 013:017 <br />The Leeward Planning Commission, at its duly held public hearing on November 20, 2014, <br />recommended for your approval the proposed legislative bill for a Change of Zone from an <br />Agricultural 1 -acre (A -1 a) to Village Commercial- 10,000 square feet (CV -10) for approximately <br />1.002 acre of land located immediately adjacent to the north of the Orchid Isle Auto Center that <br />is located at the northeastern corner of Kuakini Highway and Lako Street intersection, Holualoa <br />1St and 2nd, North Kona, Hawaii. <br />The Commission concurs with the following Planning Director's reasons for recommending <br />favorable consideration of the request: <br />The applicant is requesting a change of zone from an Agricultural 1 -acre (A -la) to <br />a Village Commercial - 10,000 square foot (CV -10) zoning district in order in order to <br />develop automobile storage and employee parking to support the existing auto sales <br />known as Orchid Isle Auto Center situated on the adjoining property to the south.
