REQUEST: DATE: 03/10/2015 PHONE: 934-3315 Enter into a lease to expand the office space by 600 square feet located at identified as space No. C-4, located at 64-1067 Mamalahoa Hwy, District of Waimea, County of Hawaii, Sate of Hawaii. B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): The Office of the Prosecuting Attorney currently leases 600 square feet of office space in the District of Waimea. (Resolution 128-13) through a lease that ends on June 30, 2018. This lease will commence May 5, 2015, with a rate for 5/5/2015 through June 30, 2015 of $0.0. The lease would coast $900/mongth for 07/01/2015 throiugh 6/30/2016; $924/month for 7/01/2016 through 6/30/2017; and $948/month for 7/01/2017 through 6/30/2018. Therby ending 6June 30, 2018 along with the current lease. The Office of the Prosecuting Attorney continues to service clients and complete work at the Waimea office for cases located in North and South Kohala, and Hamakua Districts. Currently we have three full time staff occupying 600 square feet of office space. We have three staff; a Victim Assitance Counselor, an Investigator and one volunteer that utilize the office on an as needed basis. Currently we are unable to physically modify the office to enclose the Deputy Prosecutor to allow them to have a confidential meeting space as the other two full-time staff would not be able to maneuver around their spaces. We must ensure that we are abiding by OSHA rules. Having an ofice next door, with modifications of a walk-thru doorway, from one office to the other, and an enclosed space for the Deputy Prosecutor are needed to allow the current full-time staff, and occassional staff complete their duties and tasks.
