It is through this process that Hawai'i Community College (HawCC) will recognize
and award college credit relating to the HawCC Fire Science Program for relevant training
received at the County of Hawaii, Hawai'i Fire Department (HFD).
The HawCC Fire Science Program prepares students with the academic knowledge for entry
employment in the Fire Service field as well as meeting the needs of in-service professionals. Moreover, through this agreement students will have the opportunity to reduce the
potential problem of having to retake similar courses, reduce the time it will take to complete a
degree and reduce the amount of tuition and potential debt students incur in pursuit of a college
certificate or degree.
