REQUEST: <br /> Requesting a bill for an ordinance to appropriate $452,684 for the Program Year(PY) 2014 HOME <br /> Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) to fund the following activity: <br /> Mohouli Heights Senior Neighborhood Project, Phase II - $452,684 <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> This appropriation reflects the re-allocation of PY14 HOME funds from the County of Maui to the County of <br /> Hawai'i by the State Hawai'i Housing Finance and Development Corporation (HHFDC). The HHFDC <br /> allocated PY14 HOME funds of$452,684 to the County of Maui for a Community Housing Development <br /> Organization (CHDO)eligible activity. As the County of Maui was unable to utilize these CHDO funds, <br /> HHFDC reviewed the potential use of CHDO funds with the two remaining State Recipients. It was <br /> determined that the State Recipient for the County of Hawaii has the capacity to utilize the CHDO funds for <br /> eligible activities within the required expenditure deadlines. These funds will be utilized to construct the <br /> Mohouli Heights Senior Neighborhood Project, Phase II which will consist of 30 one bedroom, one bath units <br /> for the elderly located in Hilo, Hawai'i. <br /> The Office of Housing and Community Development (OHCD) request that this ordinance be waived from the <br /> Finance Committee and proceed directly for Council's review to help expedite expending the funds. <br /> SIGNED: AVIS )d.
