6. Enhance communication, promote cooperation and <br />coordinate services between member agencies. <br />B. Goals of the Commission: The goals of the Commission <br />are to prevent and/or reduce family violence in the <br />County of Hawaii by addressing island -wide issues and <br />ramifications of family violence, to promote general <br />public awareness, to offer judicial and inter -agency <br />training and to provide the impetus for preventative <br />measures and education directed at the <br />community -at -large with emphasis on our children and <br />youth. <br />SECTION 35-2. Membership and Tenure. <br />A. All members appointed by the mayor shall serve terms <br />co -terminus to his term of office which automatically <br />ends at 12:00 noon on the first Monday of December <br />following any mayoral election. <br />B. At the discretion of the mayor, reappointments are <br />permissible. <br />C. Ex -officio membership shall be permitted but these <br />members shall not have voting privileges or be <br />qualified for mileage or other financial <br />reimbursements. Ex -officio members may be selected <br />but not limited to the following entities: <br />• Adult Protection Service/DHS <br />• Alternatives to Violence (ATV) <br />• Big Island Substance Abuse Council <br />• Castle Program <br />-2- <br />
