REQUEST: <br /> Requesting a bill for an ordinance to appropriate $1,521,232.00 for the Program Year(PY) 2016 Workforce <br /> Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA)to fund the following activities: <br /> Administration/Planning ($152,121.00) <br /> Adult Program ($495,316.00) <br /> Dislocated Worker Program ($405,276.00) <br /> Youth Program ($468,519.00) <br /> Please also submit a resolution to authorize the Mayor of the County of Hawai'i to execute and submit all <br /> agreements and other related documents to the State of Hawai'i Department of Labor and Industrial <br /> Relations for the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Program. <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> This appropriation reflects anticipated funding allocations by the Department of Labor and Industrial <br /> Relations for the PY16 WIOA program. These funds will be utilized to assist adults, dislocated workers and <br /> youth by providing services that will train individuals to increase employment, retention, earnings, skills and <br /> literacy and thereby improving the quality of the workforce, reducing welfare dependency and enhancing <br /> the productivity and competiveness of the local economy. <br /> The OHCD emphasizes that no County General Funds are involved in these transactions.
