REQUEST: <br /> We are requesting the Council's permission to accept Federal funds passed through the Hawai'i Criminal <br /> Justice Data Center, at the State of Hawaii, Deprtment of the Attorney General. They will reimburse the <br /> Office of the Prosecuting Attorney (OPA) up to $12,000 for overtime incurred by OPA staff while they <br /> research charges identified by the HCJDC with overdue dispositions. <br /> We are requesting a Revenue and an Expenditure account for these funds. <br /> Requesting to amend Ordinance 16-72 as amended, the Operating Budget for The County of Hawai'i for the <br /> fiscal Year Ending June 30, 2017 <br /> We are requesting the waiving of further reading so as to expedite this process as time is an issue for this <br /> project. <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> Currently there are cases in the State data bank that have no disposition. There are many reasons that the <br /> cases were not finalized. The Hawaii Criminal Data Justice Center is requesting our assistance in reearching <br /> the cases that have no disposition and report to them what the findings are. We have estimated the amount <br /> of time it would take to research and document the findings. <br /> The Hawai'i Criminal Data Justice Center, which is part of the Attorney General's office, which is part of the <br /> State, is willing to pay the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney, towards the overtime costs, up to $12,000 to <br /> work on this project. <br /> SIGNED: DATE: 9 I <br /> Department Head <br />
