WHEREAS. the digital photographs are collected via#litterati-tagged photos on Instagram; and WHEREAS,joining Litterati is simply a matter of downloading the free internet app available on-line from Litterati LLC, and following the app instructions to photograph, identify, and tag by geographic location, each piece of litter that will then be properly disposed of; and WHEREAS, by joining Litterati, the County, through its participating employees, will collect data about the type and location of litter found and will identify litter-laden areas on Hawai`i Island; and WHEREAS, use of Litterati will encourage efforts to reduce litter on Hawai`i Island; and WHEREAS, such identification specific to Hawai`i Island will assist the County and others to target specific geographic locations and types of litter reduction needed; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the County join Malama 808 and that the County encourage its employees and the public to use the Litterati internet program. BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this resolution to the Office of the Mayor and Department of Environmental Management.
